Exhibition Text:
This piece was made redefine the culture of the Aztec and Indian Headdress. I was inspired of the Aztec and Indian Headdress to make the two culture headdress as one piece in a block print. The design that I made was a fallen mask and feather falling down. I didn’t add a lot of feather was because I didn’t want to make full down feather. That looking like it was trying to going back together when it come back up to the headdress. I call this pieces “Fall Mask1” because it’s a type of mask that I made to show that Aztec are still alive and making like an Indian headdress mix. They are also free and back together in the world to leave their mark.

ReflectionBlock Print was a very difficult task to understand but a bit too easy because all school I went and learn I can learn make ways to caver out the block and understand and use of a Block Print. When my instructor shows me how to cave and what to use on the block I started right away on the Block Print and design what to make in the print. But I got some help from the instructor he told me how to use a water base ink for the Block print because of people use the oil base ink on the Block print it will look bad on the print. When I design my sketch I was planning to do culture about the Aztec and Indian because I believe how the earth was in the Aztec way and Indian well people think I was Indian when then first show me. But it was still too hard for me to do because when I see an inspiration, I lose interest in the end. I was thinking and thinking what should I do for my Block Print I knew that for a fact that I wanted carve out a type of headdress with feather but how will look. I look up the oldest headdress pieces that were about 500 year out and it was the Montezuma II that is told it was (2 made out of male Quetzal tail feather). Then I choosing what show unique to the sketch design l will show the most to it. Finding the right design of the feather to go with and how it will show and what it will look in the end with the black on it. When I got my design and everything time to carve time! But in the end of the work come out great with the ink and the movement and the balance for the feather with the ink. But after when I thought the Block Print was completed and ready to be post on the weebly, I got a close look at the sketch and I ending up not liking it. How it looks, how the mask pop out and the feather turn out I was happy. So I end it come out so cool that I keep it how it was without changing nothing in the end.
